Covering/Watering Unit

The Covering/Watering Unit is a significant enhancement to any seeding line, designed to apply a uniform top coating of media and distribute water evenly across trays as they exit the seeder. This innovative unit is engineered to activate only when a tray is detected, ensuring efficient use of materials and reducing waste. The unit includes a vermiculite drum hopper, which features adjustable settings to precisely control the flow of media, catering to various seeding requirements.

In addition to its covering capabilities, the unit boasts two laser-drilled water-bars that guarantee consistent water application across the trays, promoting optimal seed germination conditions. The design of these water bars ensures that each tray receives an even distribution of water, essential for uniform seedling growth.

This unit seamlessly integrates into existing seeding lines and is controlled via touch screen controls located on an Urbinati seeder, allowing for easy operation and adjustments. For operations requiring more extensive water distribution, additional water bars can be added to the system.

By incorporating the Covering/Watering Unit into your seeding line, you not only enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of your seeding process but also contribute to higher yield and better quality seedlings through precise media and water application. This unit is an essential tool for any modern agricultural setup aiming to optimize their seeding operations.

14 Foot Water Tunnel System

14 Foot Water Tunnel System

The 14 Foot Water Tunnel System is designed to provide controlled watering capability for multiple watering applications such as flats, trays, pots, and baskets. The 14-foot water tunnel is available in two widths, 16” & 22”. The water tunnel conveyor system can be either a 14-foot power conveyor belt or a 7-foot power conveyor belt with a 7-foot gravity roller conveyor. Both configurations come standard with variable speed control, a 4-bar water manifold, and drain pans. It not only makes it much easier to keep the plants uniformly moistened, but it also prevents wasting water while waiting for the product. The Water Tunnel can be wired into the production line controls, so that if production is stopped or started anywhere along the line, the watering is stopped and started simultaneously, preventing over and under-watering of any product already in the watering tunnel. Available optional extra wide or tall units will accommodate the highest and widest containers, including hanging baskets with hangers if needed.

Sub-Irrigator

Sub-Irrigator

The Sub-Irrigator provides the advantages of ebb-and-flow irrigation in an in-line setup. It is ideal for use in seeding, propagation, and shipping lines, where uniform watering is needed and overhead watering is either insufficient or not desirable. The final watering before shipping can be critical; the sub-irrigator fully waters the roots without applying moisture to the upper parts of the plant, therefore nearly eliminating the possibility of mold during shipping.

RM-2120 Bark Topper

RM-2120 Bark Topper

Topping your pots with bark or other materials helps to reduce the growth of moss and weeds; which gives you better-quality plants. An automation solution like the Mayer RM-2120 Bark Topper will also help save you time and money.

The Mayer Bark Topper uses parallel belts to rotate the pots as they advance through the machine, resulting in an even distribution of materials in each pot. An additional vibrating unit pushes any excess material back into the hopper to be re-used and any persistent residue is removed by two spring-loaded scrapers. The frequency-controlled motors can be continuously adjusted as needed to adapt to various pot sizes.

This machine can be configured for incoming pots on either the left or right side and can be used in conjunction with potting machines.
